Birkbeck offers a unique and exciting higher education proposition. At Birkbeck all of the teaching takes place in the evening, providing students with the opportunity to combine study with work or other commitments during the day.

This allows students to gain meaningful work experience whilst studying for their degree, meaning that Birkbeck graduates are highly attractive to employers in an ever-increasingly competitive jobs market.

As one of the world's top research-intensive universities, Birkbeck is a multi-faculty institution with approximately 18,000 students, offering over 100 three-year full-time evening taught undergraduate degrees in subjects ranging across the arts, sciences, social sciences, law and business. Our main campus, in Bloomsbury WC1, is at the heart of the University of London's city centre campus. It's a lively, student-centred place with some of the world's most famous museums and galleries, including the British Museum and the British Library.

We also offer some of our courses at our £33 million state-of-the-art campus in Stratford. Both of our campuses offer excellent facilities and services including a dedicated Careers and Employability Service and in-house recruitment service for students and alumni.

About Birkbeck, University of London

Founded in 1823, Birkbeck is recognised as one of the world’s leading universities for excellence in research and teaching. The Times Higher Education World University rankings 2016-17 place Birkbeck among the world’s top 250 universities and over 90 per cent of our academics are research-active, which means that your teaching is based on the very latest research.

An increasing number of school leavers and college students are choosing to study in the evening at Birkbeck so they can get ahead in a competitive job market, by gaining workplace experience while they study, rather than waiting until they graduate. Birkbeck even has its own recruitment agency, Birkbeck Talent, to help you find work experience with some of London’s top employers. Evening study gives you the freedom to plan your day as you wish: our students use their daytimes to work, volunteer, intern or study. As we’re based in the heart of London, you can also enjoy everything the city has to offer during the day and at night.

You will have automatic access to Birkbeck’s Students’ Union and to Student Central, the University of London’s Students’ Union, with its excellent sports facilities, societies, music venues, bars and cafés, right next door to Birkbeck in Bloomsbury, central London. Study at Birkbeck and start your career before you graduate.
